The hiking pannier Bagagine Marmotte
The Bagagine Marmotte is the result of the long experience gained by its big sister, the Bagagine Grizzli, on long-distance trekking with an animal.
The Bagagine Marmotte is an extremely robust hiking bag that can withstand anything the animal throws at it: rocks, trees, brambles and barbed wire.
It comprises an inner skin made of waterproof technical fabric, a second outer skin made of solid canvas, plus a plywood frame.

Waterproof
Bagagines Marmotte bags can withstand rain for days on end without letting a single drop of water in. No need for an extra tarpaulin on your luggage!
Solidity
The combination of the plastic material and the outer fabric withstands all the knocks and bumps that animals can inflict on their luggage.

Standing
The Bagagine Marmotte has 2 side reinforcements, a rear reinforcement and a bottom reinforcement in 5mm plywood. There is also a flexible ash board at the front to prevent the bag from yawning. Thanks to these reinforcements, the pannier always remains upright when placed on the ground, making it easier to find the items stored inside.

Attention : on a packdsaddle Balissandre size S or M you may hang Bagagines Marmotte size S or M. On a packsaddle Balissandre size XS, you may hang only Bagagines Marmotte size S.

Metal U-shaped parts can be screwed onto the arch of the Balissandre packsaddle (see ‘U-shaped parts kit in the Shop). The cleat is then fitted into the U-shaped piece to a depth of 6 cm. This keeps the pannier flat against the flange of the arch.

Hanging straps
If you are using another model of packsaddle (Bastillon, Balaïtous or pack with cross-bracing), 2 straps passing through the cleats will hook onto the cross-bracing. Please note: these straps are not included in the price of the pannier. You can buy them in the Shop, or simply make your own using nylon straps, such as those used on trailer loads.
Difference with the Bagagine Grizzli
The only technical difference between Bagagine Grizzli and Bagagine Marmotte is the inner skin.
On the Bagagine Grizzli, the inner skin is made from a heat-welded swimming pool liner, bolted to the outer fabric. This design explains its weight and price. This bag will withstand the toughest conditions and can carry a heavy load. It is best suited to long-distance hiking and mountain carrying.
On the Bagagine Marmotte, the inner skin is made of a technical plastic fabric sewn to the outer fabric. It is lighter and more suitable for traditional hiking and carrying fragile or delicate objects (bottles, books, etc.).
