The lightweight, inexpensive and comfortable traction collar
We have tested this traditional traction collar on numerous animals and over hundreds of km to tow our small Escargoline cart. The longest journey lasted 2,500 km, with a donkey, without any injuries.
In December 2020 it was named Colisson by the subscribers of our Facebook page.
This is an inexpensive and very sturdy work collar.
Uses of the Colisson collar, the flagship product of our equipment : leisure driving, competition driving, market gardening, logging, agricultural work.
The Colisson is very light: from 2.3 kg to 5 kg depending on the size.

Structure
The Colisson is made up of 2 leather rolls enclosing braids of rye straw.
The largest sausage rests on the neck and shoulders of the animal. It is flexible enough not to hurt when working.
The second roll, sewn to the first, serves as a support for the metal frame.
On the frame are fixed 2 hooks (1) for the pulling belts, and 2 rings (2) for the passage of the guides.
Open the Colisson
The metal frame is hinged at the bottom, because the collar opens from the top, which is much more pleasant for the animal when you put it on.
To open the collar, you must undo 2 straps. One is used to block the frame, the other to block the leather rolls.
If a too-small Colisson borrowed from another animal is used, simply leave the top half-open.
Care and protection
The leather used is chrome-tanned leather, very resistant. It only requires a little maintenance with neatsfoot oil where it rubs with the hair.
We recommend sewing a cover around the Colisson, with 4 holes to allow hooks and loops to pass through. This cover will protect the collar from the animal’s sweat and will be easy to remove and wash. Maintaining the leather of the collar will become easier.

Use
The Colisson collar is suitable for multiple uses:
- coupling collar for professional or leisure animal traction
- necklace collar for agricultural gardening work
- skidding collar
The Colisson is both flexible and firm and fits the animal’s shoulder perfectly. It allows horse-drawn carriages to be towed without tiredness.
Our 120 customers who own an Escargoline have used it since 2009 to tow the Escargoline, over thousands of km and without any problem.
